 Con*nec”tion, n. (1) The act of connecting, or the state of being connected; junction; union; alliance; relationship. (2) That which connects or joins together; bond; tie.
The word connection has a very special meaning here and it’s why I chose it to be part of the title for the magazine. My goal has been to connect as many local women together, in as many ways as possible.
When we originally started Women’s Connection Magazine, we did it because we thought there was something missing in local publications. Other local magazines have come and gone over the last few years and we saw that something was still missing! Local women … women like you and I … not celebrities … just “regular folk” who have stories to tell and information to share.
Women’s Connection is written and published by Bay Area women. Our focus is on local business women, artists, entertainers, non-profit organizations, writers and services, run by and for women. Most of the advertising found in Women’s Connection Magazine is for women owned businesses and women write most of the feature profiles and articles.
We are giving local small business women an opportunity to promote their businesses, services and talents through well-written articles and affordable advertising. The tenacity and camaraderie of our publication helps give each of us; reader, writer, and advertiser, the confidence to succeed to the highest levels of our capabilities.
Women do business differently … we make relationships, create friendships and Women’s Connection Magazine wants to help you make the connections that you need to start and continue to make those relationships.
Women’s Connection is about women and for women! So what makes us different than all those other magazines out there?
Women’s Connection is local. All of the profiles, articles and advertising will be for local business women, artists, entertainers, non-profit organizations and services. When you read an article about a person or service in Women’s Connection, it will be easily accessible to you. Although not all of the advertising will be exclusively for women owned businesses, women will write the articles. Exceptions will only be made if we feel that the information is important and there has not been a submission by a woman in the same field of expertise.
Women’s Connection is a forum to bring Bay Area women together to share their skills, knowledge and experience. Each article and profile will include how to reach the individual who wrote the article, giving all of you an opportunity to contact her directly for more information. In essence, Women’s Connection is one big women’s networking group, or more accurately, a combination of the area’s best networking groups.
Women’s Connection is free to the reader. Unlike other free publications in the area that are primarily distributed to grocery and drug stores, Women’s Connection will be distributed to book stores, Chamber of Commerce offices, local company lobbies and libraries, just as an example. Copies of Women’s Connection will also be distributed through subscription and some direct mail.

Submit articles for publication: The articles in Women’s Connection are submitted by business women just like you. This is an opportunity to share your knowledge and bring your business to the attention of thousands of local women. You will find our “Article Publication Guidelines” at the end of this article.
Advertise. In an economic climate that is being taken over by big retailers, it’s getting more and more difficult to find cost effective advertising opportunities geared for small local businesses. Women’s Connection offers you that option. You have the chance to have a small display ad for as little as $95.00 per issue. We have a number of advertising options and we’re sure that one or more will meet your needs and budget. For a copy of our complete media package, email us with your name, company name, phone number, fax number and mailing address and we will be sure to get a copy to you within a couple of days.
Subscribe: Although we have over 100 drop sites throughout the south bay, the easiest way to get a copy of women’s connection is to have it delivered to your mail box. Circulate: Spread the word for us – make sure that every woman in the area has seen and heard of Women’s Connection.
Share a copy of Women’s Connection with a friend. When you pick up a copy of Women’s Connection, please pickup an extra copy and pass it along to a friend. Encourage participation and continue the connections.
Contact our advertisers and writers. When you see an ad or article that interests you, please don’t hesitate to make that contact. Remember … that’s what Women’s Connection is all about … making those connections!!
